The establishment of the independent state of Palestine:
On this day, November 15, 1988, the declaration of the establishment of the independent state of Palestine took place.
The background to this event traces back to the Arab League summit held in October 1974, where the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was recognized as the representative of the Palestinian people.
In addition, the summit immediately affirmed the right of the Palestinians to establish an independent state. Following this, on November 15, 1988, the Palestinian National Council, the legislative body of the Palestine Liberation Organization, officially declared the establishment of the state of Palestine, and Yasser Arafat assumed the role of the first president of the State of Palestine.
