ISLAMABAD: The founder of Pakistan’s nuclear program and National Scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was laid to rest with state honors at the Islamabad’s G-8 graveyard here on Sunday.
The funeral prayer was offered at Faisal Mosque which was led by Prof Dr Muhammad Al-Ghazali. A large number of high civil and military officials, cabinet members, and people from different walks of life attended the funeral.
A guard of honor was also presented to the deceased scientist.
Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan had died at the age of 85 this morning. He was rushed to the hospital this morning due to lung problems where died.
Sources said that Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was brought to KRL Hospital around 6 am where his condition had deteriorated. Doctors tried their best to save the nuclear scientist but at 7:04 am he passed away.
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was born in Bhopal, India in 1936 and immigrated to Pakistan with his family in 1947 after the partition of India.
