Mian Channu: Asim Jamil, the son of the famous Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil, sadly passed away after he was shot in the chest at his farmhouse. Dr. Asif Imam from Tulamba Hospital confirmed the death.
It’s said that Asim was working out in his gym on the farmhouse. There was a guard there for his safety. However, Asim took the guard’s gun and shot himself in the chest.
According to the Multan Regional Police Officer, Capt (retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, security cameras showed that Maulana Tariq Jamil’s son took the gun during his exercise and tragically shot himself in the chest.
RPO Sohail mentioned that Asim had been dealing with mental health issues and had been taking medication for a long time.
He was married into the Niazi family of Khanewal.
The sources mentioned that Maulana Tariq Jamil established Al-Hussain School in Tulamba, which was managed and led by Asim’s wife, who served as the school’s principal. Asim, on the other hand, had not completed his basic education, nor had he received any religious education.
Asim had divorced his wife two years ago, had no children, and was dealing with mental health problems.
Earlier, the Punjab Inspector General of Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, took notice of the incident and asked for a report from the Multan Regional Police Officer. He emphasized the importance of determining the cause of death based on evidence and forensic reports.
According to Punjab police, the Khanewal District Police Officer and other senior police officials were at the scene collecting evidence.
The scholar himself shared this tragic news on the social media platform X and requested prayers for the departed soul.
“My son, Asim Jamil, tragically lost his life today in Tulamba. This sudden loss has cast a shadow over our hearts. I kindly ask for your prayers during this sorrowful time. May Allah grant my son a place in the highest part of heaven, Jannatul Firdous,” he conveyed.
The passing of Jamil’s son led to condolences from various political and influential figures.
